HIDDEN ORCHESTRA — 'DAWN CHORUS' EUROPEAN AV TOUR
Having launched their acclaimed 'Dawn Chorus' album with a hugely successful live AV show at London's Islington Assembly Hall in June, sonic experimenter Joe Acheson takes his Hidden Orchestra live band on the road with an unmissable European AV tour in November and December (see full dates below).
Hidden Orchestra's third studio album on Tru Thoughts, the eagerly awaited 'Dawn Chorus' has seen heavy and diverse media support across BBC 6Music (including a Recommends Playlist selection), Virgin Radio, BBC Radio 4, Clash, The Arts Desk, Songlines, Electronic Sound, Creators (Vice) and beyond.
“You could just listen to that forevermore” – MARY ANNE HOBBS [“Wingbeats”, 6Music Recommends Playlist track]
“Beautiful” – LAUREN LAVERNE
“Utterly exquisite… sheer brilliance” — CLASH
“Dawn Chorus is a stunning affair” – 4 STARS – THE LIST
«What a treat… It's a proper delight» — ELECTRONIC SOUND
«A gently engaging masterpiece» — VINYL OF THE MONTH — THE ARTS DESK
This album and tour comes hot on the heels of Hidden Orchestra's late 2016 performance at The Royal Albert Hall alongside The Pharcyde, Submotion Orchestra, Andreya Triana and Henry Wu – a milestone event which built on a dizzying run of gigs this last decade, from sellout AV shows at London’s Union Chapel and St John at Hackney to hundreds of headlines and festivals at home and around the world.
Revered internationally for their compelling shows, the live incarnation of Hidden Orchestra combines the duelling beats of two full drum kits (care of Jamie Graham and Tim Lane) with piano and violin from Poppy Ackroyd (who has recently signed to legendary label One Little Indian as a solo artist), and Acheson’s bass and electronics; plus regular guest musicians and stunning live visuals by longtime collaborator Tom Lumen.
As pace gathers around the latest release, and demand for their jaw-dropping live shows continues to increase, Hidden Orchestra are rapidly converting themselves into not just a band everyone in the know is talking about, but an act that music and art history will regale time and time again.
“A great record… ideal for night owls or early birds.” – HUEY MORGAN

“A free-flowing piece at the intersection of jazz, prog rock, and classical music made all the more impressive by the fact that the Hidden Orchestra is actually a single person” – POPMATTERS
“Wonderful wonderful new LP from Hidden Orchestra” – GIDEON COE (BBC 6MUSIC)
“The wonderful Hidden Orchestra, always on my playlist” – EDDY TEMPLE-MORRIS (VIRGIN RADIO)
“A beautiful album that lasts long in the memory” — 5 STARS – DMC WORLD
