Vortrag und Performance

Aura Rosenberg and John Miller are artists based in New York City and Berlin. As a married couple, they sometimes collaborate and exhibit together but they usually work independently. Rosenberg will discuss two current projects Berlin «Childhood» and «Statues Also Fall in Love» and how they grow out of earlier work. Both series span photos, video and sculpture. Miller will present recent projects such as «Reconstructing a Public Sphere» and «Walking in the City», which focus on the nature of public space. These projects take the form of texts, photographs and PowerPoint slideshows. In addition to their lectures, Rosenberg and Miller will perform a short selection of their original songs.

Rosenberg’s work probes sexuality, gender, childhood, artistic identity and historical construction. In 2017 she had a retrospective show at Galeria Studio, Warsaw. Her series «Head Shots» will be featured in an exhibition in Fall 2018 at Kunstmuseum Stuttgart. She has published three books of photographs. «Head Shots» (StopOver Press 1996); Berlin «Childhood» (Steidl/DAAD 2001) and «Who Am I? What Am I? Where Am I?» (Hatje Cantz 2006). Rosenberg teaches at Pratt Institute and School of Visual Arts. She is represented by Martos Gallery in New York City and Meliksetian Briggs Gallery in Los Angeles.

Miller has had solo exhibitions at. La Magasin in Grenoble, the Kunstverein in Hamburg, the Kunsthalle Zurich and the ICA Miami. In 2011 he received the Wolfgang Hahn Prize from the Society for Contemporary Art at the Museum Ludwig in Cologne. His publications include «Mike Kelley: Educational Complex»: Afterall Books (2015), «The Ruin of Exchange and Other Writings on Art»": JRP-Ringier (2012) and The Price Club: Selected Writings" (1977-1998): JRP-Ringier (2000).
